Why I'm building this
I used to spend over an hour every day scrolling through Twitter, Reddit, Hacker News, and a dozen newsletters. A lot of it was noise. And a lot of it I had already read. Sometimes I would miss out on important developments because I can only keep up with so much.
TLDR was nice but it still felt like something was missing with it. So I decided to build my own news app that would take all the sources that I cared about and actively monitor them so I only have to pay attention to what is important.
During the process of building this out, my dad became very interested in it because he also likes news in tech but he didn't read english, so I added a chinese translation feature in the app for him. That is also when I reliazed that maybe this app could be something that a lot more poeple would find useful.
Pebble isn't a news app that will just aggregrate everything, it uses an intelligent scoring system to rank all the articles to show only the most important ones. In the future, the app will be able to learn from the user what they find useful and the algorithm will adapt to show news that the user will find interesting. Think Tiktok but for tech news.
